Cop Town by Karin Slaughter is one intense book. I’ve read her series books and loved them, now I know she can write a great stand-alone book. This book, at times, was crude, racist, sexest, brutal and jaded. Just like the times were in the 1970″s. The characters were well developed and had many human traits and emotions. There were many characters to dislike and a few that you could actually like. It was hard to understand why the female cops choose that profession, I think if it had been me, I would have become a secretary. The action, mystery and suspense were palpable and maintained throughout the entire book. At times this book was hard to read but I would still recommend to those who enjoy a suspenseful gritty book. Reading it was time well spent.
