Twist of Fate by Rachael Anderson is a funny heartwarming novella. The premise of the story is very clever: Tyler McKenzie and Mackenzie Tyler both live in the same apartment complex. Their mail is always being mixed up and each has received quite a few pieces of mail for the other. This leads to a few problems.
Kenzie has received mail from Ty’s mother and she tries to get Ty to contact his mother. He has broken off contact with her because she is too meddling and he cannot take it anymore. Kenzie feels that he should call her and eventually she contacts his mother and invites her to visit. Ty is not very happy about this.
Ty accidently receives a postcard from Kenzie’s fiance telling Kenzie that he has met someone else and is calling the wedding off. This is good news for Ty because he has fallen in love with Kenzie. But he knows it will be devastating news for her and will ruin her Christmas. He decides to not tell her about the postcard. He also decides he is going to do everything he can to get her to fall in love with him.
The characters are well developed and well rounded. They are the type of people you would want to be friends with. The friendship between Ty and Kenzie seems very realistic and and a good base for a future. The conflict between Ty and his mother also seems very realistic and I like the part that she played in Ty’s plan to win over Kenzie.
The writing style flows smoothly and it is an easy read. The book is very entertaining and I enjoyed the fact that it was a clean read. Since it was a novella it was short but I feel like it was complete read. Of course I would have preferred it to be a full length book because I would have liked to read more about Ty and Kenzie, because what I did read I really liked.
This is a great holiday read, but it could be read anytime of the year. If you are in the mood for a fun quick book, this is a book for you to read. I have not read any other books by this author and I look forward to reading more in the future.
