Rory Langtry lost the life that she knew five years ago. That is when her supermodel twin sister is murdered and her fiance, Junior, is accused of the murder. He is also in a coma that he has never awakened from, supposedly caused from an attempted suicide.
She has rebuilt her life but she has never completely healed from the tragedy. She now has a new fiance, someone whom she loves with all her heart. She continues to run the cosmetic company that she founded. But when she is at a fundraiser for her company, Junior’s brother shows up and tries to cause trouble. And strange thoughts and feeling seem to be taking over in her mind. She does not know what is causing this to happen and she does not know how to stop it. As these thoughts and feelings become stronger, she begins seeing things through Juniors eyes and she realizes that he is trying to get her help solve the murder of her sister. Before he dies, he wants his name cleared.
This book is unlike any other book I can remember having read. Most of the mysteries that I have read seem very similar: there is a murder to solve and a group of suspects and motives possibly responsible. This book goes outside of the box and I thought this was a good thing. It is a combination of mystery, paranormal and suspense. There are times when I was anxious to turn the page because I did not want to know what was going to happen next. There are times when I had tears in my eyes while I was reading. The descriptions of Junior in his coma were heartbreaking and seemed so realistic, I was amazed. At times it was hard to read, because I could picture it so vividly in my mind.
The mystery and suspense are carried on throughout the entire book. There are twists and turns around every corner and some things that happened came as a total surprise. I did not solve the mystery until it was revealed at the end of the book and it was very plausible and satisfying.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted paranormal mystery thriller. I have not read any other books by this author, but after reading The Night Visitor, I will be getting her other books.
