Friday’s Question

In all of the books that are available to read, there are many different time frames when the book takes place.  Today’s question is do you prefer to read a historical setting or a contemporary settings?

  1. I enjoy both. Probably more contemporary than historical because there aren’t that many historical cozies being written.

  2. I, too, enjoy both — but I pick more contemporaries because I won’t be happy if the writer doesn’t do a first-rate job capturing the historical setting. I know too much history to be happy with a poor effort, and I’ve a very good ear for period dialogue, thanks to reading so many “old” books. I love WWII books, but I gave up on one recently because, if I discarded all references to the war, I wouldn’t have known whether the story was taking place now or 70-something years ago.
