Review of A Winter’s Tail

A Winter’s Tail

Whales and Tails, Book #11

Kathi Daley

5 Stars

Three secrets, first revealed in Grimm’s Furry Tail, A Tale of Two Tabbies, and The Cat of Christmas Present, collide in a single horrific moment that leaves one person dead and one fighting for their life. This fast paced cozy mystery will have you glued to the page as Cait and Cody join forces with a cat named Moirai in a race against time to track down a killer.  (Goodreads)

What I really liked about this book is that Cait and her friends did not stumble upon a dead body, although someone was killed.  It was refreshing that the protagonist did not even see the dead body.  I really enjoyed the uniqueness of this book.

The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and the book starts off really intense and it ends the same way.  The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The mystery is well developed and is carried on well from the beginning of the book until the end.  There were enough clues to keep me guessing until it was revealed at the end. And Moirai, this book’s cat, as usual, added a touch of mystical to the book, which I enjoyed a lot.

The characters are well developed and well rounded, which is always the case with this author’s books.  The author is very talented in creating characters that are people you care about and that you would like to be friends with.  I always enjoy visiting them and catching up with what is happening in their lives.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery with a touch of magic.  If you have not read any of the books in this series, you are in for a real treat.  This book is a great addition to the series.
