Sally Muccio’s walk down the aisle might be her last.
The some-time amateur sleuth and full-time bakery owner is finally marrying the man of her dreams. But during a last minute taste testing of their wedding cake, Sally and her fiancé are witnesses—and almost victims!—of a random shooting. At least they think it’s random, until an original fortune cookie message proves otherwise. Is someone after Sally? And why does the mysterious shooter want to ice the baker? Sal tries to proceed with caution, but when someone close to her is attacked, all bets are off. She’ll do whatever it takes to bring this monster to justice, even if it means sacrificing herself in the process.
Can Sal make it to the church on time…and alive?

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and through much of the story I felt like I was right there, watching all the action take place and listening in on all the conversations (yes, I was eavesdropping). The mystery was carried on well throughout the entire book. This mystery was a little different because there were either no suspects to consider or too many suspects to consider, depending on how you look at it. Sally has no idea who may want to harm her but if she does not figure it out, she may not be long for this world. There were a lot of twists and turns and red herrings thrown in that it was nearly impossible to figure out who the culprit was before it was revealed at the end.
The characters are well rounded, well developed and three dimensional. Sally’s parents are crazy, funny and unpredictable. I was laughing out loud through some sections of the book because of them. Sally and Josie are best friends and they definitely have each other’s back and would even take a bullet for each other. I so enjoyed reading about the two of them and spending time with them. I really enjoy reading about Sally’s grandmother and her elderly neighbor. They also provided some humor to the book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. With top notch characters, a top notch mystery, a great setting and humor galore, what’s not to love. This is one of my favorite series to read. Try it for yourself and you will see what I mean.
