33258442Book 17 of the nationally bestselling Joanne Kilbourn series is classic Gail Bowen: masterfully compelling storytelling that combines a modern, urban family with a gripping, satisfying mystery.

As Joanne Kilbourn-Shreve, her husband, Zack, and their soon-to-be seventeen-year-old daughter, Taylor, rush through the rain from their cottage to their car, the Thanksgiving weekend they just spent at the lake with Zack’s law partners is already slipping away, burnished into memory as pleasantly as the hundreds of other weekends the Falconer-Shreve families have shared at Lawyers’ Bay. Thoughts of the weekend past will now focus on the future and be prefaced by the words “next time.”
Within weeks, a triple homicide will rip apart the lives of those related to the lawyers who, at the end of their first year in law school, only half-jokingly styled themselves “The Winners’ Circle.” Dazed by grief, Joanne will seek answers to an impossible question: “Why did they die?”
The facts behind the suicide of Christopher Altieri, known by his law partners as “the conscience of The Winners’ Circle,” appear to provide insights, but for Joanne those insights raise new, unsettling questions. Knitting this powerful narrative together is Joanne’s unshakeable belief that the only thing worse than knowing is not knowing. (Goodreads)

35071433It’s not Halloween but horror is hitting The Bounding Storm … and Rowan Gray couldn’t be more excited.
That’s right, the Indie Horror Movies are being held on the ship and that means the entire guest list is made up of members of the B-movie industry. As a horror buff, Rowan is having trouble containing her enthusiasm. She can’t wait to meet some of her favorites, although the experience might not be all she dreamed about.
From a security perspective, the awards don’t offer up much trouble for Quinn Davenport – other than the expensive camera serving as the grand prize. He’s more interested in keeping Rowan out of trouble than anything else.
When Rowan’s special gift rears its ugly head and one of the biggest actresses falls under a death omen, Quinn and Rowan find themselves in the unenviable position of watching her without tipping their hands. When she goes missing, they expect the worst … and that’s long before death officially comes calling.
Rowan may love horror movies but she doesn’t enjoy fiction intruding on real life. Something big is going on – and it seems all the guests have a secret. Rowan needs to sort through the lies, discover the truth, and find a way to save the day.
That’s if she herself survives, of course, which is no guarantee on a ship full of potential killers.
A storm is coming, and a killer is in their midst. It’s anybody’s guess who will make it to the final credits.  (Goodreads)

Quinn Davenport is a former military man enjoying an easy stint as head of security on The Bounding Storm. As soon as he crosses paths with Rowan, he realizes she’s different. He has no idea how much until it’s too late to turn back.
Together, this duo must fight against fate – and their hormones – to keep The Bounding Storm safe.
This omnibus includes the first three books in the Rowan Gray mystery series. Titles include Welcoming Seas, Murky Seas and Stormy Seas.

35330563In this third book in the Writer’s Retreat Mystery Series set on fictional Gull Island, a sports related death is explored when Trey Alderman, Gull Island’s most important claim to sport fame, is murdered. Trey was the starting pitcher for the Gull Island Seagulls who went on to stand out nationally amongst college players while attending The University of South Carolina. It was assumed by most that he would be a top draft pick a year and a half ago and it seemed at the time that the sky was the limit in terms of his career. Trey came home for spring break during his senior year and while on the island he agreed to play in a charity event held in Charleston. The game, which featured other draft hopefuls, was a one run game. It was the bottom of the ninth, tying run on third, bases loaded, two outs, full count, and the tension was high. The pitch was thrown, everyone in the crowd held their breath. Trey lined up with the pitcher and swung the bat with all his might before falling to the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It was later determined that he died of a heart attack. He was twenty-two, healthy, and, as far as anyone knew, he had no preexisting heart condition. It was later determined that he had a drug mixture in his system that could lead to a heart attack when combined with extreme stress. The local investigator determined that he had most likely engaged in recreational drug use at the party he attended the previous evening.

Alex Cole, a twenty-eight-year-old, fun and flirty millennial who made his first million writing science fiction when he was just twenty-two decided to write a book about Trey’s life and death so he brought the mystery of Trey’s death to the Mystery Mastermind group who live and work at the Gull Island Writers Retreat. The eight members of the colony have all agreed to dig into the facts surrounding the death and help Alex find the answers he seeks.    (Goodreads)
