Review:

The characters are well rounded and well developed.  Roxy is a southern gal, through and through. And she loves owning the Bean Hive Coffee Shop and making everyone’s life better through coffee.  Her relationship with Patrick, the love of her life, is progressing better than she could have imagined. And she is looking forward to the town Halloween Festival.  So when a dead body turns up, she feels she has to figure out the killer so that the Festival can go on. I really enjoy getting to spend time with Roxy and her family and friends.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read.  The author has the southern setting and southern culture down pat and she makes both very humorous with her writing.  Some of the phrases that she uses had me laughing out loud. The mystery is well plotted and held my interest through the whole book.  The murder occured a little later in the book but that was fine with me because I wanted to catch up with Roxy and her friends and family.

I would recommend this book, and series, to anyone who enjoys a well plotted cozy mystery.  I am already looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and and I have given my honest opinion.

So when she decides to put up a tent on her property and hold an extravagant wedding ceremony for her two Russian blues, she makes sure to include a few two-legged guests—primarily to raise some hackles. All her favorite enemies will be there: her bird-loving neighbor, a rival cat breeder, a local animal rights activist, and the niece and nephew who stand to inherit her considerable fortune . . . if she doesn’t spend it all on cat tchotchkes first. Susie can’t wait for them all to watch as Boris and Natasha slink up the aisle in their very expensive diamond-studded collars, before everyone starts digging in to the poached salmon and caviar provided for the occasion by Bernie and Libby.

But chaos erupts when a wedding gift is unwrapped and a mischief of mice jump out of the box—followed by the disappearance of all the pampered partygoers. Just a few hours later, Susie is stabbed in the back while searching for her missing kitties near the now-empty tent—and it’s up to the Simmons sisters to sniff out the killer . . .

Bury the Lead: A Joe Gunther Novel (Joe Gunther Series) by [Mayor, Archer]Joe Gunther and the VBI team are investigating a murder and an arson case—both potentially related to an outbreak of ebola.

When the body of a young woman is found near a trail at a popular ski mountain, the case falls to Joe Gunther and his team at the Vermont Bureau of Investigation (VBI). They quickly have a suspect, Mick Durocher, and a confession, but not everyone on the team is convinced. Despite Mick’s ready admission, investigators quickly sense there might be more going on than is immediately apparent.

At the same time, a large local business is being targeted with escalating acts of vandalism—a warehouse fire, a vandalized truck, a massive cooling system destroyed—resulting in loss of life. And either by coincidence, or not, Mick Durocher, the self-confessed murderer, was once employed by this very company.

These two puzzling cases—now possibly connected—are further complicated by the sidelining of a key member of VBI, Willy Kunkle, who undergoes surgery at a hospital that appears to be having an unlikely—and suspiciously timed—outbreak of Ebola.

Joe and his team pursue these cases, uncovering motives that might link them, while proving that trust betrayed can be a toxic virus, turning love into murderous loathing. Indeed, behind the mayhem and murder, Joe must uncover a tragic history before another victim dies.  (Amazon)
