Callie Reed has put together a special event, but a killer is ripping it apart at the seams
As the new owner of a music box store in Keepsake Cove, a quaint town full of collectible shops on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Callie Reed is eager to get more involved in her community. So she volunteers to plan the fall street decorations and welcome a visiting author who’s come for a special book signing. But the celebratory mood is cut short when the local B&B owner is found dead, killed with a pair of vintage scissors.
Suspicion is cast on the victim’s estranged wife, Dorothy, who owns Keepsake Cove’s vintage sewing shop. Callie is sure Dorothy is innocent, and the visiting author agrees. Together, they begin their own investigation, only to discover that many people in Keepsake Cove have secrets. Secrets that are worth killing to keep.

Harassed by politicians like the ambitious Winston Churchill, bullied by Special Branch, undermined by his colleague’s ill-advised foreign ventures, and alarmed at his wife’s involvement with militant suffragettes, Kell is making no progress in tracking high-profile leaks from the government. To make matters worse, his best (and only) agent, Wiggins, would rather be working cases of his own.
Wiggins grew up on the streets of London, one of the urchins trained in surveillance by Sherlock Holmes and known as the Baker Street Irregulars. He has promised to avenge the death of his best friend, and to track down a missing girl from the East End.
But when his search takes him to an embassy in Belgravia–an embassy that’s actually a high-class brothel presided over by the fearsome “Big T,” one of his fellow Irregulars–Wiggins is drawn into a conspiracy that will test both his personal and professional resolve. (Amazon)

˃˃˃ Praise for Chicken Culprit (Book One in the Backyard Farming Series)
Reading for pleasure can’t get much better than this. I fell in love with the characters, and having lived in Denver, I could just picture the setting of the fictional town Carolan Springs. I’m also a backyard farmer (sans chickens) and laughed until my sides hurt at the descriptions of the compost patch. Just when I thought I had it figured out, Walton hit me with another twist; so masterful is her ability to weave a tale. And the humor is appropriate, even when talking about murder. There are so many curves and corners in the story it reminds me of driving in the Colorado mountains. I was blown away at the ending ”” not at all what I had expected. I can’t wait to read the next in this series. These characters are just too good to be lost to one book only. This one is now on my gift list to all my reading buddies. LT
