Pineapple Hurricane: A Pineapple Port Mystery: Book Eleven (Pineapple Port Mysteries 11) by [Amy Vansant]

Pineapple Port Mysteries by Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Amy Vansant, is a funny, clean and gore-free small-town, female amateur sleuth series, but with all the pulse-pounding excitement of a detective thriller.

When a Pineapple Port resident is found dead during an approaching hurricane, Charlotte fears someone’s trying to disguise murders as storm-related accidents. The first two victims have more than the storm in common – both were hoarding valuable storm supplies like toilet paper and water.
Hm. Maybe the killer is karma!
Bringing together the area’s community leaders to spread a warning could lead to even more trouble. Last time the Five Families got together, someone ended up dead. But things could be much deadlier if Declan’s crazy ex is right and the Puzzle Killer’s broken out of prison…
And did that lamppost just explode, or is someone trying to kill Charlotte and Declan?
Charlotte vows to solve the crime before the storm hits. Mariska and Darla vow to find some toilet paper for sale, even if they have to call in help from their old neighbor, the revenge-genius, Gloria.
Buckle down for a blustery ride as the storm hits!
Quips get flung and puns get slung, making for a hilarious read, but even better, Pineapple Port’s just a place you want to hang out. The dialog crackles—you’ll hear the voices of your own nutty friends and relatives in every conversation.
Throughout the series, you find serial killers, crazy ex-girlfriends, loving dogs, romance, government operatives, FBI agents, danger… and a cast of characters almost as funny as they are loving, supportive and brave. The series appeals to men and women.

If Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum and the Golden Girls had a baby, it would be the Pineapple Port series!

If you like Jana Deleon, Angie Fox, Leslie Langtry, Susan M. Boyer, Gina-LaManna, Julie Smith or any funny, action-packed mystery, you’re about to find your next favorite series.

“Amy is one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend all of her books. No matter what genre she writes in, she manages to create books that demand that the pages be immediately turned to find out what happened, because you really care about the characters.” ~ Dianne Harman, USA Today and Amazon Chart #1 Bestselling Author  (Amazon)

Except for Grace. She has been dragged unwillingly back into the career that her parents and ancestors have made famous. A descendant of the original Godmother, she has high expectation riding on her– and she has done everything within her power to avoid the whole mess. Now middle-aged, she has been dragged from her failed attempts at other careers, right back into the world she had tried to avoid for two centuries.

Now, here on Grace’s first case alone as a Godmother, everything has fallen to pieces. The Sleeping Princess has been found dead and… stinking. And Magic is already beginning to act strangely.

~The Book Decoder

Ms. Young crafts a fast-paced plot. There are layers upon layers of mystery surrounding the cold case(s) and plenty of suspects for Marygene to discover. The author has created some terrific characters . . .
~Cinnamon, Sugar, and a Little Bit of Murder

On Georgia’s picturesque Peach Cove Island, a killer is serving up a two-for-one special . . .

After their mama’s passing, Marygene Brown returned to Peach Cove Island to help her sister Jena Lynn run the family diner, renowned for its homemade peach desserts. But Mama is never too far away—her sassy spirit haunts the island, and more specifically Marygene. Lately Mama has been warning her that the dead will seek her out to solve their murders, an idea Marygene is far from peachy keen on.

But that prophecy appears to be coming true when she goes skinny-dipping off the island and swims right into a woman’s charred corpse floating in the waves. And when Marygene and her brother Sam come upon a second burned body in a wine cellar at an event they’re catering, it appears they have a double homicide on their hands. It soon turns out the victims have more in common than their charred remains, and Marygene will need to double down to find a killer who has no aversion to playing with fire. Good thing Mama has her back . . .

Includes Seven Recipes from Marygene’s Kitchen!

The characters are well developed and well rounded.  I thought that Marygene, her sister, Jena Lynn and her friend, Betsy, made a great team.  They were not afraid to pursue the truth, even if it put them in harm’s way.  And her Mama, who happens to be a ghost, Does whatever she can to help her daughter.  I really enjoyed that there was a ghost in this book, I enjoy a great ghost story.

The writing style flows smoothly and it defines the characters very clearly through their actions and words.  The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning.  The southern charm just oozes from the pages and I would live to go and visit Marygene and her family and friends on Peach Cove Island.

The mystery was well plotted and there were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider.  This mystery was a little more complex and not easily solved.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well written cozy mystery.  I am looking forward to the next book in this series, I want to see what trouble Marygene gets into.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

The Barks & Beans Cafe cozy mystery series in order:
Book 1: No Filter
Book 2: Iced Over

The writing style flows smoothly and defines the characters very clearly by their actions and words.  The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning.  In my mind’s eye, I could picture the Barks and Beans and all of the animals inside there.

The characters are well developed and well rounded.  Macy and Bo are siblings and I thought they got along really good.  They cared about each other and they tried to watch out for each.  They have both been hurt, but they try to help each other through their heartache.  Bo has a secret that he finally reveals to Macy and she is not sure what to do with the information.  Macy cannot seem to help herself, she has to figure out who killed the golf instructor, after all, she got his dog.

The mystery was well plotted and carried on well throughout the book.  There were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider.  The mystery was intriguing and not easily solved.

Review of Marshmallow Malice

Marshmallow Malice
Amish Candy Shop, Book #5
Amanda Flower
5 Stars

52279897. sx318 sy475 Synopsis:

Caught in a sticky situation . . .

With Juliet Brody and Reverend Brook tying the knot in Ohio’s Amish Country’s most anticipated nuptials of the year, Bailey King is determined to do everything in her power to make the event a sweet success. Except midsummer heat waves and outdoor ceremonies don’t mix, and an exasperated Bailey soon finds herself struggling to fulfill bridesmaid duties and keep her stunning marshmallow-frosted wedding cake from becoming a gooey disaster. Then much to everyone’s shock, the entire ceremony crumbles when a guest drops dead, and the cause isn’t sunstroke . . .

Turns out, the uninvited victim came equipped with lots of dirt on the devout reverend’s hidden past. As Reverend Brook tops the murder suspect list on what should have been the happiest day of his life, Bailey and her sheriff’s deputy boyfriend vow to clear his name. Can the duo boil down a series of baffling clues before Juliet considers her marriage a bad mistake–or the killer whips up another deadly surprise?

Recipe Included!

Praise for Amanda Flower and her Amish cozies

“As it turns out, Amanda Flower may have just written the first Amish rom com.”
— USA Today

“Flower has hit it out of the ballpark . . . and continues to amaze with her knowledge of the Amish way of life.”
— RT Book Reviews

“At turns playful and engaging . . . a satisfyingly complex cozy.”
— Library Journal

The characters are well rounded, well developed and three dimensional. I was so happy that Cass was very involved in this book, she and Bailey make a great crime fighting duo. The situations that they find themselves are funny and dangerous. I am very glad that Juliet and Reverend Brook finally tied the knot, they were made for each other. And what can I say about Jethro, Juliet’s little pig. I love all of his antics, they made me laugh.

The writing style flowed smoothly and defined the characters very clearly by their actions and words. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. In my mind’s eye, I could see all of the action taking place during the festival and at the candy shop.

The mystery was well plotted and there were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider. I considered the culprit for a moment and then discarded her as a suspect. Sleuthing is not an easy thing to do.

I would highly recommend this book, and series, to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I know that anytime I pick up a book written by this author, I am in for a real treat.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

A Dreadful Meow-ment (MEOW FOR MURDER Book 2) by [Addison Moore, Bellamy Bloom]A highly inaccurate psychic. A grumpy writer. And a corpse. Welcome to Starry Falls. Running from the mob can be murder.

Confession. I’m no psychic. But I can sort of see the future—albeit not accurately. And you better believe, I’ve never let that little detail stop me from prognosticating my way into a pickle. So when I ticked off the mob, the feds, and my wily ex, I decided to take my Uncle Vinny’s advice and start over with a new name and new hair color while relying on my old shtick—getting my psychic wires crossed and putting myself in danger.

It’s turning out to be a long, hot, summer. But when Shep takes me to his high school reunion, as his date, things heat up more than ever. Suffice it to say, his old female classmates aren’t too thrilled to see he’s taken. And even though Shep is insistent on keeping up our couples ruse, one of his rusty, dusty, old girlfriend’s isn’t buying it. And when one of his good friends ends up biting the big one, all suspicion is cast upon the interloper among them. That would be me.

BONES IN THE RIVER: an absolutely gripping crime thriller full of twists (CSI Grace McColl & Detective Nick Weston Lakes Trilogy Book 2) by [Zoe Sharp]Driving on a country road late at night,
you hit a child.
There are no witnesses.
You have everything to lose.
What do you do?

The traditional Appleby Horse Fair hosts the largest gathering of Gypsies and Travellers in Europe.
The sudden influx of more than 40,000 visitors into the small Lakeland town has always caused its share of problems, with strained relations between off-comers and locals.
But it’s also known as a good time to settle old scores.
This year, the Fair brings with it with the discovery of two bodies near the River Eden—one very recent and another a long time buried.
As CSI Grace McColl and Detective Nick Weston search for answers, old secrets are revealed, old wounds are reopened, and tensions threaten to erupt into violence.
While someone much closer to home is trying to get away with murder…

The follow-up to DANCING ON THE GRAVE, the first of the Lakes Thriller Trilogy, this is a self-contained story featuring:
CSI Grace McColl. She is forty, amicably divorced from her husband, Max. Born in the Lakes, she was always a keen photographer, who trained as a crime scene investigator after her photographs were used to help a guilty man go free and he later caused a woman’s death. Grace still feels she has much to make amends for. She hides her emotions behind a calm façade that can make her sometimes appear cold. She lives in Orton village, with a Weimaraner called Tallie.

Detective Constable Nick Weston. He is thirty-two, living with his partner, Lisa, a hairdresser, with whom he has a volatile relationship, and a young daughter, Sophie. Nick worked in Firearms in Manchester and then undercover for the Met in London. After he was compromised and almost beaten to death on an undercover op, Lisa persuaded him to transfer up to her native Cumbria, where he is considered an outsider among his colleagues. Nick is still coping with some of the mental and physical after-effects of his experiences.

“Unique characters and superb writing… I highly recommend.”
“Another book from Zoë Sharp with strong female protagonists that is hard to put down.”
“I love all of Ms Sharp’s writing and while Charlie Fox will always be my favourite, the more I read of this pair the more I like them.”
“Zoë Sharp has shown what a versatile writer she is by changing from her blockbuster Charlie Fox series (which you should read if you haven’t), to these books about a CSI.”
“Grace McColl is an endearing, smart and fascinating lead character as well and I look forward to the projected third novel in this trilogy. Grab this one as soon as it comes out—and if you haven’t read Dancing on the Grave, grab that one too.”
“As rich and fascinating as I expected with the added plus of the engaging new (to me) characters of CSI Grace McColl and Detective Nick (Weston). They’re intriguing alone and compelling together.”
“Sharp can be counted upon for providing admirable female characters against the backdrops of casual misogyny and domestic abuse and doing so with a light touch.”
“I love the Charlie Fox series by Zoë Sharp, and didn’t think this novel could be as good as those, but now that I have read Bones in the River, I actually like it even better!”
“Thoroughly enjoyed the book. I could not put it down. Zoë Sharp never disappoints.”
“I was instantly hooked.”
“It’s a cracking story, by a gifted author and I can’t wait for more from either series. Highly recommended.”
“I’m an enormous fan of Sharp’s Charlie Fox, the ex-army turned bodyguard, who stars in 13 novels and who is my vote for the best ever female main protagonist in crime fiction! So I was a bit apprehensive that I wouldn’t like this book as much. This was unfounded as Zoë Sharp is an incredibly good writer who is inventive, while remaining credible, in delivering her storyline twists.”  (Amazon)

When Brady’s threatens to close its doors, Pilot realizes his mother’s job is in jeopardy, as well as his future in Asbury. With the aid of Cornelious’ wealthy cousin Dane, who spends every summer with the quartet, the gang is once again thrust into an investigation. Unfortunately, they find themselves thwarted by both the local police (who believe their recent success was due to luck, rather than skill), and Cornelious’ father, who has decided to run for Mayor of Asbury and cautions his son on the need to maintain a spotless public image.
With a new pancake house on the boardwalk, Mainlanders invading their beaches, and the Pitbulls sneaking around and terrorizing shoobies (as usual), there’s no shortage of suspects. But can they solve the case before the summer, and Brady’s, are finished?  (Amazon)

A Fairy Situation (Wicked Hollow Fairies Cozy Mystery Book 1) by [Misty Bane]Miles away from Blackwood Bay, in the deepest depths of the forest, is a bustling community named Wicked Hollow. It’s where I live and where a lot of other fairies live too. Yup, fairies.
Cute, right? Except most of what you think you know about fairies is wrong. We aren’t sweet little things that flutter around singing songs and throwing fairy dust around. Okay, okay … some fairies fit this stereotype— not me. It might be because of the whole curse thing, but I’ll explain that later. Right now, I’ve got a dead body on my hands.
Someone killed our mayor. And since I’m an agent for the Fairy World Bureau of Investigations, I kind of have to deal with it as part of the job description.
Add in my best friend who owns the local salon, my eccentric grandmother and her doubly eccentric twin sister, and my oldest friend—a vampire cursed to live out the rest of his existence as a bumblebee bat—and you can see my life has all of the promises of a typical cozy paranormal story … except it’s a little more complicated than that.

The heirs of a Périgordian sheep farmer learn that they have been disinherited, and their father’s estate sold to an insurance company in return for a policy that will place him in a five-star retirement home for the rest of his life. But the farmer never gets his life of luxury–he dies before moving in. Was it a natural death? Was there foul play? Bruno begins the investigation that leads him to several shadowy insurance companies owned by a Russian oligarch with a Cypriot passport. The companies are based in Cyprus, Malta, and Luxembourg, but Bruno finds a weak spot in France: the Russian’s France-based notaire and insurance agent. As Bruno is pursuing this lead, the oligarch’s daughter turns up in the Périgord, and complications ensue, eventually bringing the action to the château of an aging rock star. But, as ever, Bruno makes time for lunch amid it all.  (Amazon)

Kelly Jackson, manager of the Redwood Cove Bed and Breakfast, is excited to participate in an event to raise awareness for the plight of struggling veterans in their Northern California coastal community. Local wineries are sponsoring tastings, and to prepare for a culinary competition, professional chefs will forage for wild edible greens. The senior sleuths who call themselves the Silver Sentinels join forces with environmental activists known as the Succulent Saviors to thwart the poaching operation. When a consultant for the sale of a local winery is murdered, the poachers are suspected—but so is a wine merchant, Kelly’s friend Phil. As Kelly and the Silver Sentinels attempt to root out the real killer, what she digs up might just put her permanently underground . . .
