Ghost Mortem
Ghost Detective, Book #1

Whoever said that ghosts exist must be out of their mind.

Oh, wait. That was me. I said that. If you’d told me yesterday that ghosts were real I would have smiled, nodded, and called a shrink to fix your deluded little mind. Now it’s my turn to question my sanity when the ghost of my best friend turns up in my apartment. Was it the tequila shots the night before causing this apparition? Or one too many bumps to the head — let’s face it, clumsy is my middle name, it really wouldn’t surprise me if I’d done some irreparable damage to my grey matter over the years.

Now I have to accept that the paranormal does, in fact, exist. But sadly, my ghost friend is lacking something besides his body. His memory. He doesn’t know how he died but suspects foul play and he wants my help to find his killer. I can’t refuse, I’m a sucker for a good mystery and the chance to bring my friend’s killer to justice is too good to pass up.

Surprises abound as I discover a secret talent for sleuthing, not to mention an unexpected inheritance of a talking cat among other things. But the biggest problem of all? Captain Cowboy Hot Pants, or as he likes to be called, Detective Kade Galloway of the Firefly Bay PD. He’s one smokin’ cop, but my distrust of the police runs deep and despite his assurances that he’s here to help can I really trust him, or is his offer of assistance designed to keep me from discovering the truth?

I guess I’ll find out when death comes knocking on my door.

Join Audrey Fitzgerald in the Ghost Detective series, a paranormal cozy mystery featuring a cat, a ghost, and a murder to solve. (Goodreads)

Review:

This book is just what I look for in a cozy mystery. It is funny, has great characters, a great mystery and it has a ghost. I could not ask for anything else.

The characters are well rounded and well developed. Audrey is smart, inquisitive and very down to earth. Her whole world changes when her best friend, Ben, is killed. He is now a ghost that only Audrey can see, and he wants her to figure out who killed him. She has to help him figure it out, but since he cannot remember anything, it will be up to her to catch the killer. Audrey has inherited his house, his PI practice and his talking cat, Thor. To say that Audrey’s life is complicated would be an understatement, but if anyone can handle it, it is her.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story right from the very beginning. The mystery was well plotted and carried on well throughout the entire book.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a ghostly cozy mystery. This book is a great beginning to an awesome series.

New Releases For The Week Of June 7th, 2020–Part 2

Here is a list of some of the new releases for the week of June 7th, 2020. I am going to divide the list into 3 days because there are so very many of them for the week. Today is the second day of my list for this week. Hope you find some selections for your weekly reading. Enjoy and happy reading.

Witch of a Godmother (Witch Reborn Book 1) by [Belinda White]

The most powerful witches live more than one lifetime.

I’ve come to realize that now. The natural order of things is for a mother to raise her children. Not the other way around.

My new housemate Kimberly doesn’t know yet what (or who) her newborn daughter is, but I do. I was there when she was born and shared a short soul-gaze with my own mother. Someday, I’ll have to break the news to Kimberly, but not today.

Or this week, it looks like. Not with all the shenanigans going on in Wind’s Crossing.

Who would have thought buying a simple desk at an estate auction would lead to so much trouble for my little shop? The break-ins ticked me off, but I could live with them. I had my own way of handling things like that.

But when the last break-in yielded a dead body? Well, a witch has to draw the line somewhere.

Besides, I’m a Ravenswind Witch and head priestess of the Gemstone Coven. We don’t rest until justice is served. One way or another.

Witch of a Godmother is the first book in the Witch Reborn Series, a Paranormal Witch Cozy Mystery starring none other than Opal Ravenswind, witch extraordinaire. This series is the second series featuring the Gemstone Coven’s witches. If you want to start at the very beginning, check out the Accidental Familiar Series.  (Amazon)

*Paperback and Kindle Unlimited available from June 8th, 2020*

My name is Megan and I have a knack for two things: discovering dead bodies and uncovering secrets.

I don’t go looking for dead friends and neighbours. They just show up.

Like when my best friend and I are on our way to lunch, and stumble across Jill Plumb’s dead body.

Jill’s death was no accident. It was murder. Untangling the mystery of her death unravels a string of secrets that were never meant to be revealed.

One of these secrets cost Jill her life, but which one?

With a little help from my friends, I’m determined to find out, and get Jill’s killer off the streets of my sweet, cozy town before they kill again.

Stitches are like clues, individually they don’t look like much, but look at a bunch of them together and suddenly you have a sock… or a killer.

Simmering Stu (Jane Delaney Mysteries Book 6) by [Pamela Burford]A hot tub can be a great place to decompress—provided your tub toy isn’t a Glock 9-millimeter. When Death Diva Jane discovers that Stu Ruskin has taken decompression a little too far, everyone assumes his sudden demise was self-inflicted. The result of a guilty conscience perhaps? After all, no one who knew Stu would describe him as a Boy Scout.

Jane begins to suspect murder when disturbing revelations come to light, involving a blood feud, secret recipes, and a (haunted?) bed-and-breakfast inn with a dark history going back to Colonial times.

As if a hot-tub homicide weren’t enough to deal with, Jane is more than a little conflicted about yummy bad boy Martin McAuliffe. All she really knows about the sexy bartender is that he has a mysterious past and is a darn good kisser. But hey, Sexy Beast approves of him, and when has Jane’s neurotic canine sidekick ever steered her wrong?  (Amazon)
