5 Stars

Five victims, four friends, three novels, two romances, and one cold case mystery, combine to bring you the first in a series of three part reunion stories by USA Today Bestselling author Kathi Daley.

In the third installment of this three-part story, Quinn and Kelly set out to prove a theory which puts both women in the crosshairs of a killer. Determined to find the truth no matter the risk, the women embark on a dangerous journey that neither feel certain they’ll return from alive.
Meanwhile, Sam stumbles across information that suggests the last girl to be taken may in fact still be alive, Nora takes a break from the group in order to meet up with Matt, and Carrie is unexpectedly swept off her feet after meeting a man she never saw coming. (Goodreads)

The characters are well rounded and well developed. The friends have all grown and changed in just the few weeks they have been together. And some very important decisions are made in this book. I really like the way the friends all stayed together and helped each other with their problems. Kelly and Quinn are working at solving the mystery of all of the surfers that have disappeared over the last twenty five years. And they also try to find a current missing teen that they know. They risk their lives trying to get the answers that they are seeking. Will they be successful in their hunt or is it too late?

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these helped make the story more enjoyable.

I really liked following the lives of these women and seeing what happened to each of them. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy.

Zoey Matthews, the Undead Ghost, and the Demon (A Bridgeport Mystery) by [Heather Elizabth King]An ancient manuscript. A dead ex. One last chance to take control of her life.

The only plan Zoey Matthews had that day was to take the first step in putting her life together after her husband left her for a younger woman. But her plans for a fresh start are sent spiraling out of control when the ghost of her murdered husband shows up in her swanky new loft. What would you do? If you’re Zoey Matthews, you don’t celebrate the fact that the philandering bastard is dead, you set out to prove you didn’t kill him.

The list of suspects seems endless. Was it one of the nearly adolescent girls he’d been sleeping with behind Zoey’s back? Maybe it was the sinister friend who dabbles in black magic? It could have been the pair of clueless thugs on the hunt for a missing artifact that they think Zoey has. A sexy and all too appealing celebrity artist new to town is on the suspect list, too. Last of all, the stuffy town mayor? If she doesn’t figure it out soon, she may be next.

Zoey Matthews, the Undead Ghost, and the Demon is the first book in an urban fantasy series that features surprising plot twists, dark supernatural entities, sexy male characters, and a female protagonist who may not kick ass, but you could totally see yourself having a beer with her.

Jokers Wild (Mah Jongg Mystery Series Book 6) by [Barbara Barrett]

“The show must go on.” That applies even to playwright Marianne Putnam, when the director of her one-act play, “Jokers Wild,” fails to show for curtains up on opening night at the community theater in Serendipity Springs, Florida. When the director’s wife begs Marianne to accompany her to their home to check on him, they find the man floating in his pool. Dead.

Though not known for his pleasant disposition—her relationship with him had been tense since nearly ramming into his car in a parking lot, but after all, he was the director—who would have wanted to murder him? Surely no one in the production crew, cast or the staff of the community center where the play was to be staged. Maybe it was the wife, who Marianne had overheard arguing with him. Or perhaps someone from his theater connections back in the Big Apple.

Since she was there when the body was discovered, Marianne is considered a suspect. That doesn’t mean she can’t help her three Mah Jongg friends—Syd, Micki and Kat—assist the sheriff with the investigation. But who’s there to help her when her path crosses the murderer’s.  (Amazon)
