Today is the fourth day of my list for this week. Hope you find some selections for your weekly reading. Enjoy and happy reading.

Whistling Up A Ghost (Whistling Pines Book 4) by [Dean L. Hovey]Peter and Jenny Rogers return from their honeymoon to a pile of wedding presents including the deed to an old house. They open presents from the residents of Whistling Pines Senior Care Center ranging from thoughtful, to thrift shop purchases, and “what is that?”

Taking a break from the gift opening party, they tune in to a live news broadcast and watch the historical society president open a time capsule found during demolition of the band shell. The opening ceremony turns grim when a rusty pistol and a newspaper clipping about an old murder are revealed.

The Whistling Pines rumor mill runs amok as the retired residents offer up murder motives, stories about the victim’s checkered past, and a multitude of potential murderers. Despite his full-time job as Whistling Pines recreation director, Peter gets dragged into the time capsule murder investigation.

Jenny’s son, Jeremy, is convinced their new house is haunted when boxes jump from shelves, a radio turns itself on, Christmas stockings appear under the fireplace mantle, wedding gifts rise eerily out of boxes, and ghostly events interrupt their sleep. They start to ask themselves if the house is a gift or a curse…until the ghost is revealed.  (Amazon)

As for festive spirit, she’ll have to settle for her mean-spirited Aunt Ronda, whose mouth could use some soap.
The night only gets worse after Tallie discovers Ronda’s body. It seems someone cleaned her clock with a can of varnish. While all the evidence points to Ronda’s husband, Tallie doesn’t believe her beloved Uncle Hoagie could do such a dirty deed. Of course, his sudden disappearance doesn’t help his case. If Tallie hopes to clear his name, she’ll need to dig up some dirt to locate the real killer. Otherwise, someone else could get rubbed out . . .

Burning Secrets: A Whispering Pines Mystery, Book 11 by [Shawn McGuire]Things are heating up in Whispering Pines, and it’s not just the weather.
Sheriff Jayne O’Shea is on edge. Hopeful applicants have taken over the commons area, all of them begging to become residents. Villagers who left long ago have returned, causing an uproar among the locals. The slow burn feud between the sister witches has reached the boiling point. And her parents are acting just plain weird.
Fortunately, it’s time for the annual Beltane celebration, the last opportunity for everyone to gather before tourists invade the village for the summer. Attendees dance around the Maypole, decorate fairy chairs, weave witch ladders, and nibble Green Man cake. Good, innocent fun.
Except, this year’s fire festival is being held during the driest spring the Northwoods has seen in a decade. And like bees to honey, the event has attracted an arsonist intent on burning the place to the ground one little fire at a time.

What Readers Are Saying
“I can clearly see the thatched roof houses, their wood and stucco exteriors. It reminds me of Shakespeare’s house in London.”
“I’ve read them all and just want to go back.”
“I wish Whispering Pines was a real place”
“If you enjoy honest, rather raw characters seeking direction, and the consequences of past mistakes, you’ll enjoy this series as much as I have.”
“My mind is still in Whispering Pines. I can clearly see the thatched roof houses, their wood and stucco exteriors. It reminds me of Shakespeare’s house in London.”
“I really enjoy how the characters continue to evolve in this series and the new eccentrics fit right in!”

Mad Money Murder (Merry Wrath Mysteries Book 16) by [Leslie Langtry]

From USA Today bestselling author Leslie Langtry comes another madcap Merry Wrath mystery that will leave you laughing til it hurts!

When Merry Wrath inherits an urn of cremains, she isn’t sure which is more surprising—that she was now the owner of a body or the fact that her family’s mythical Aunt June actually existed. Besides the urn and the deceased’s collection of lethal pets, from an assassin caterpillar to a deathstalker scorpion, the ex-CIA agent turned Scout Leader also inherits a mystery:

“If you’ve received this, it means that I need you to find out who murdered me.”

With her best friend and five mischievous little Girl Scouts, Merry takes a trip across the state to her aunt’s tiny, rundown hometown of Behold, Iowa. Though, in hindsight, it probably wasn’t the best for the troop to stay at a famous scout camp that has a history of ghosts and aliens. Or to bring the precocious, ten-year old Betty who has started mastering some very sophisticated (and alarming) magic tricks.

Was Aunt June murdered?

Most in Behold think the death was an accident involving June’s pet brown recluse spider, but Merry isn’t so sure. There are far more questions than answers about who Aunt June really was. Between a late-night dash for her life over a high ropes course, and dangerous interactions with deadly critters, Merry needs answers before a killer silences her questions…for good.
