I’m so excited to be a stop on the blog tour for author Olivia Matthews and her new book Murder By Page One. It is the first book in her A Peach Coast Library Mystery.
Murder by Page One: A Peach Coast Library Mystery by Olivia Matthews
Murder by Page One has set the Peach Coast Library Mysteries off to a splendid start. The core characters are very engaging and I want to get to know them better . . . ~Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book
This is an even-paced read, with a dash of humor, mis-steps, dumpster-diving, and surprises . . . If you’re a fan of Hallmark movies, especially the mysteries, you will enjoy Marvey’s adventures. ~Christa Reads and Writes
Murder By Page One was indeed a page-turner and kept me up reading well into the night. I can’t wait to visit Peach Coast again. ~My Reading Journeys
If you love Hallmark mystery movies, you’ll love this cozy mystery with humor, intrigue, and a librarian amateur sleuth.
Marvey, a librarian, has moved from Brooklyn to a quirky small town in Georgia. When she’s not at the library organizing events for readers, she’s handcrafting book-themed jewelry and looking after her cranky cat. At times, her new life in the South still feels strange…and that’s before the discovery of the dead body in the bookstore.
After one of her friends becomes a suspect, Marvey sets out to solve the murder mystery. She even convinces Spence, the wealthy and charming newspaper owner, to help. With his ties to the community, her talents for research, and her fellow librarians’ knowledge, Marvey pursues the truth. But as she gets closer to it, could she be facing a deadly plot twist?
This first in series cozy mystery includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Classic Peach Cobbler.
The characters are well rounded and well developed. I enjoyed getting to know Marvey, Jolene and Spence and seeing how they watched out for each other. You can tell they are really good friends and will do anything to help each other. I thought Spence was an interesting character and I am looking forward to learning more about him. I also enjoyed getting to meet Marvey’s cat, Phoenix. He was not acting himself after the move from New York, and Marvey was determined to help him get settled and be comfortable. She acted like a great cat mom.
The author is very talented in her descriptive and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read. The mystery was well plotted and with the clues to sift through and some red herrings thrown in, it was not easily solved.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I thought the book was a very good start to the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Hallmark Publishing, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

As the owner of Coffee, Books, and More, Jill Gardner likes to support other Main Street businesses, so she attends a paint-and-sip event where, sadly, her brushstrokes look more like blobs. It’s still fun, though—aside from some disruption by a couple doing more sipping than painting. Jill’s police-detective boyfriend is on alert, but a designated driver volunteers to take the drunken pair back to their bed and breakfast, and everything seems resolved. Until the wife’s body turns up the next morning back in the studio.
The victim, Nan, is from out of town, so it’s hard to imagine who’d have a motive aside from her spouse. Now, in between puzzling over her fortuneteller neighbor’s strange behavior, preparing for her best friend’s wedding, and pouring cups of java at the bookstore, Jill must uncover the secrets of Nan’s life and find out who wanted her out of the picture . . . (Goodreads)
Review:
The characters are well developed and well rounded. It is finally the big day for Jill’s best friend, Amy, and her fiance, Justin. All Jill wants to do is celebrate the day with the newlyweds, but life has other plans. When a body turns up dead, Jill feels she must figure out the murderer. She will need the help of her friends and her police detective, Greg, if she wants to find out the real story and killer. It takes a community to catch a villian.
The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning and took me on an intriguing thrilling ride. The mystery was well plotted and not easily solved, which is the way I like my mysteries. You will be guessing along with Jill in figuring out the culprit.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. Grab a copy, get comfortable and enjoy the read.

I’m so excited to be a stop on the blog tour for author Lori Robbins and her new book Murder in the First Position. It is the first book in her An On Pointe Mystery.
Ballerina Leah Siderova knows the career of a professional dancer is short. But rarely is it as brief as that of her rival, Arianna Bonneville, whose rise to stardom ends when she is stabbed in the back.
New York City police detective Jonah Sobol fixes upon Leah as the prime suspect. After all, she was the one who found the body, she had the most to gain from Arianna’s death, and it was her name Arianna whispered, just before she died.
Leah is desperate to clear her name, and she begins her own investigation, collaborating with her best friend and her ballet coach. As the three dancers sort through backstage intrigues, attempted blackmail, and a tangle of romantic liaisons, the noose around Leah’s neck grows tighter.
Ballet, with its merciless discipline, is all Leah has ever known. Is that enough to keep her one step ahead of the police—and the killer?
Brooklyn-born Lori Robbins began dancing at age 16 and launched her professional career three years later. She studied modern dance at the Martha Graham School and ballet at the New York Conservatory of Dance. “What happened to the toilet seat?”
I flipped on the light to make sure I wasn’t mistaking the situation. Nope. The seat was gone.
“Taye, did you take the toilet seat off?”
“No, Mum, why would I do that? That’s not the kind of thing a little kid would do.”
I sighed, my hand on my forehead. “The same reason you took apart the ice machine. The same reason you opened the pipes under the kitchen sink. The same reason you put all the cleaning products in the freezer! Which is to say, who knows?”
Taye’s little boy face looked so innocent. “It wasn’t me. It was probably a gremlin.”
I rolled my eyes at him, about to scold him for his nonsense, but then I thought better of it. If a vampire could buy the farmhouse up the road, and if the cranky leprechaun woman across the cul-de-sac could harass fairies, why couldn’t a gremlin steal my toilet seat?

It was completely by accident, of course, but now it’s up to me and my band of halflings, plus my elven grandpa and an ex-hunter, to restore the Veil between the worlds to its prior state.
Really, I’m just desperate to get home to Portland, where I can hug Mom and Grams, have a hot cup of coffee, and eat a pizza again.
The only problem? The secret to our little border issue lie in the middle of a mountain that just happens to be surrounded by evil and monsters. This should be a piece of cake, right?

In the second installment of Maria DiRico’s new Catering Hall Mystery series, Mia Carina is back in the borough of Queens, in charge of the family catering hall Belle View Banquet Manor, and keeping her nonna company. But some events–like murder at a shower–are not the kind you can schedule…
Mia’s newly pregnant friend Nicole plans to hold a shower at Belle View–but Nicole also has to attend one that her competitive (and mysteriously rich) stepmother, Tina, is throwing at the fanciest place in Queens. It’s a good chance for Mia to snoop on a competitor, especially since doing a search for how to run a catering hall can get you only so far.
Mia tags along at the lavish party, but the ambience suffers at Nicole’s Belle View shower when a fight breaks out–and then, oddly, a long-missing and valuable stolen painting is unwrapped by the mom-to-be. Tina is clearly shocked to see it. But not as shocked as Mia is when, soon afterward, she spots the lifeless body of a party guest floating in the marina . . .

Review:
Mia is a good daughter and a good friend. She is helping to host a baby shower for her friend at her family-owned catering hall, Belle View Banquet Manor. And she is a good daughter because she is helping her dad become a legitimate business man and being sure he has cut the ties with the mob. When Mia attends a baby shower for her friend and a stolen picture is one of the shower gifts, she knows something is up. And when someone is found dead, she knows she has to find the culprit before someone she cares about is charged with the murder. She will need all of her “connections” to figure this one out.
The characters are well developed and well rounded. Mia and Nicole are really good friends and will do anything to help the other. Mia’s grandmother is very funny and she will boast to anyone about what a good detective Mia is. There may be a new love interest for Mia, we will have to wait and see.
The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and through much of the book I felt like I was right there watching all of the action taking place. The mystery was well plotted and there were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider. I was not sure who the culprit was until it was revealed at the end, which is how I like it.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.
