But the world of pageants is even hotter than Mel’s kitchen. A high-strung judge and a pushy stage mom target Lupe, a young friend of Mel and Angie’s, at the competition and aim to take her out—by any means necessary. When the same judge shows up dead underneath Mel and Angie’s cupcake display, Lupe is crowned the lead suspect. Now Mel and Angie will have to find the real killer quickly or Lupe may be strutting the catwalk in prison pinstripes…
Review:
The characters are well rounded and well rounded. Mel and Angie find themselves involved in a beauty pageant thanks to Mel’s mother. They are supplying the cupcakes for the event, and that should mean publicity for Fairy Tale Cupcakes. But when one of the judges is found dead, they will have to help find the killer. It was great to see their family and friends helping solve the mystery.
The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions allowed me to picture in my mind’s eye all the action taking place. The mystery was well plotted and it will take all of your detective skills to solve the mystery.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. These characters are some of my favorites in the cozy world.
