Review:
Thanks to Mal, Allie’s dog, Allie finds a dead body and has to pull it out the water. When she learns who the victim is, she knows that it will not be a good thing for the annual yacht race. The victim is the daughter of one of the families that are very involved in the races. And when the police investigate, it seems to Allie that they are looking in the wrong direction. She knows she has to solve the murder before the wrong person is sent up the river without a yacht.
The characters are well developed and well rounded. Allie is a hard worker and she is not afraid to work as hard as her employees. She is also very determined when she makes up her mind about something. Even though many people tell her to stay out of the investigation, she knows that is not happening. Since she is the one who found the body, she feels a connection. And since her boyfriend’s sister is arrested for the crime, she is even more determined. Speaking of her boyfriend, Trent, I am not that impressed with him. He seems a little too conceited for my taste and I do not think he treats Allie that well. That is only my opinion, and obviously, Allie does not agree with me. And of course, Mal, steals the show again with her antics and cuteness.
The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The author is descriptive with her writing and I felt like I was right there on the Island watching all the action going on. The mystery is well plotted and not easy to solve. There are a lot of twists and turns and suspects to keep the reader guessing.
I have read the other books in this series and I have enjoyed them all. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy. If you like fudge, you will be thrilled with this book, and you will also be craving the chocolate goody.
