Here are some ways that all readers can help support our favorite authors. Without the authors, we wouldn’t have any TBR piles!!!!!!!
BUY THE BOOK
READ THE BOOK
WRITE A REVIEW
BUY BOOKS AS GIFTS
ATTEND A BOOK RELEASE PARTY (VIRTUAL OR REAL LIFE) AND INVITE FRIENDS TO JOIN YOU
CONTACT THE AUTHOR THROUGH FACEBOOK, AUTHOR’S WEB PAGE OR AUTHOR PAGE AND TELL THEM HOW MUCH YOU ENJOY THEIR BOOK
What a cute post, Mary! And very true . . .
I have been pondering a post on the disturbing growth of hostility between some readers and some writers in online forums. A trend, I should say, that I will never get because, as you so correctly point out, what would we do for books without our authors????
As readers, our lives would be boring without authors to create worlds for us to visit, characters who feel like friends, and mysteries to solve. I am thankful everyday for them and for the fact that I know how and love to read.
I should have added: I’m working on all six today. I gave a book to a birthday girl. I bought some books (when I’ll read them I don’t know), and I’m about to post a new review on my blog . . . so three down and three to go.
You are definitely doing your part. I am going to write one to two reviews today, so I’m working towards achieving them too. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, it means a lot.
Good way to support Authors. I write a review on every book I read. I don’t put negative reviews on my site, but let the author or publisher’s know.
I know you write a review for all the books you read, which is a very large number. You help the authors daily.
The last two were touch and go. April 26 will big day for me.
Good luck on the 26th. I’m sure you’ll do great, I have faith.
BettyLouise, I have the same policy about negative reviews. I subscribe to the “least said, soonest mended” philosophy . . . and want to recommend good books, not waste time trashing bad ones.
That is my policy. I have read so many that I know what I like so I don’t get many negative ones to begin with. If you have blog either WordPress or put your review their. If you want to start a WordPress blog I will help in a y way. Comments mean comment back.
Betty, Middle Sister has a blog on word press, here’s the link: http://middlesisterreviews.com/.
Betty, you helped me so much when I started my blog, (and you still do) and you told me about NetGalley. I have learned so much from you. Thanks.
Me too. If i really don’t like a book, I don’t review either.
Mary, these are great! And I love all of your suggestions. Thank you so much for all the things you do to support authors. And thank you for supporting the Kay Driscoll mysteries. 🙂
You’re very welcome. Thanks for writing such a great series.
Hi, I love your post on ways to support authors! I would love to add a link to your blog post in my upcoming blog on Friday. Please email me if you have any questions or would rather I not link to you. Thanks so much for promoting ways we can all help out!

Thanks so much, Kim. That would be great if you would add a link, I’d appreciate it.
This post was such a nice reminder, and one I appreciate. I’m still figuring some of this out as a reviewer – especially how, with very limited time, to “feature” a book I love beyond just posting a review in half a dozen places and tweeting about it.
Thanks. I know that it is hard to find the time to read and review along with everything going on in our lives. Not only is it tough to find the time, but it’s hard to think of extra things to do. But every little thing we do as readers and reviewers helps more than we may know. Thanks for stopping by and please come again.
